Printing / Re: CLX-3185 stopped working

Still does not print. Installed the suggested version of driver. No printer flashes ligths, waits 2 seconds and sound "pling". Print job is no longer in queue and printer display shows ready.

This is better than yesterday, since printing does not eat all CPU, but still not a working printer.

I think I see it now. I did not pay attention to the version number being part of the package name.

So there is a package named samsungmfp-driver-4.00.39 in the repo, and I can install it in the usual apt-get way?

Where can I get that from?

I did notice the samsungmfp* packages had different version numbers, but apt-get update and upgrade did not change that, and apt-cache policy looked OK.

Printing / CLX-3185 stopped working

Printer is Samsung CLX-3185, with USB cable. Computer runs Ubuntu 12.04.1.

Upgraded to 12.04.1 a week ago, added bchemnet repository and used the drivers from there. Worked like a charm until yesterday.

Not sure what caused this, but now printer fails to print. Ubuntu had some upgrades last night, after installing them this failure mode started.

I removed package printer-driver-splix

If I print one line of text from LibreOffice, that prints, but the print is smudgy and
in addition printer spits out 4 to 8 empty pages.

If I print test page from CUPS, printer starts flashing lights. Nothing prints, and top shows printing related processes taking all CPU. This goes on and on, looks like I could wait forever and nothing happens.
