I had this all ready to post and while gathering the specs - I got it working. Perhaps this information may be useful to others.
Printer and scanner were working. I did a 2am sleep deprived system cleanup of my old HP printer and the Samsung scanner quit working. I cannot get the scanner working again.
Printer: Samsung CLX-6220 Series
Linux: MINT 13 3.2.0-23-generic (x86_64)
Desktop: XFCE 4
Connection: TCP/IP4 Network StaticIP: 192.168.1.99 and also via USB (USB connection for testing)
Drivers: From repository. All versions are 4.00.39-1 unless specified:
I completely removed all these packages and reinstalled them from the repository.
Including the packages from the standard synaptic repos removed and reinstalled:
I can get the printer working but not the scanner via:
I can connect via ipp by entering URI. Print jobs are accepted with no errors, network lights are flashing but nothing prints. Network find didn't list printer. Sane-find-scanner does not find anything. I went through the help pages and tried previous driver versions etc. Followed and verified each step.
On the tenth try, (this is where it started working) standard add printer showed the printer under the network settings. I have no idea what I did to get it there. The last nine times nothing was listed as in automatically found. I added that printer and now everything works again. The network address that came up was:
SEC001599986AE5 is the host name listed on the printer's Network Configuration Report. Sane-find-scanner still does not show my scanner but Xsane does find one as does the SUD Configurator. Ipp still does not work and socket://192.168.1.99:9100 allows printing but not scanning.
Your mileage may vary. But the only thing that worked was when the network printer suddenly showed up and the URL ended up being:
No more late night clean-ups for me.
