Success Stories / CLX-3185 on Debian Wheezy
August 01, 2013, 15:15:42
My PC runs Debian 7.1 (Wheezy).
Pinter/Scanner CLX-3185 on USB port.

Removing transitional packages (version 2.2, marked as "may be safely removed") created a problem (printer and scanner no more recognized).
I then removed all packages issued from bchemnet/suldr an re-installed all new packages (introduced in May 2013) following the order given by http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/repository.html#rename.
Worked perfectly, Everything ok, scanner and printer.

Note : The CLX-3185 is still recognized as CLX-3180, which is not a problem.

Thank you for your work

I recently installed Debian Wheezy (beta-4 installer), and still have Debian Squeeze working.
SULDR perfectly worked with Squeeze.

With Wheezy, printing is perfect (better quality then before I guess, halftones are great !). The scanner seems to be recognized but an input/output error occurs (in French : smfp:SAMSUNG CLS-3180 Series on USB:0': Erreur d'entrée/sortie sur le périphérique). Installing the fix "samsungmfp-scanner-usblp-fix" did not help. According to recommendations, I removed it.

Then I tried to install the Samsung UnifiedLinuxDriver 1.13. The installer is clearly unappropriate, it could not recognized that sane API where already installed and also that Qt was fully installed. The scanner was not recognised at all (not listed in the configurator), and the installer recognized a additional printer that did not exist.

So I uninstalled the Samsung UnifiedLinuxDriver 1.13 and went back to SULDR.

"sane-find-scanner -v" answers :
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04e8 [Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.], product=0x343d [CLX-3180 Series]) at libusb:001:002

"scanimage -L" answers :
device `smfp:SAMSUNG CLX-3180 Series on USB:0' is a SAMSUNG CLX-3180 Series on USB:0 Scanner

This all the information I can provide. Of course I am ok to make more tests if somebody has ideas.

Success Stories / CLX-3180 ok
August 15, 2012, 09:38:45
Hi,
Thank you for your excellent work.
I just installed a CLX-3180 color laser plus scanner on a Debian squeeze 6.0.5. The printer is connected through USB.
I just followed your instructions :
- added your repository to /etc/apt/sources.list (line http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr debian extra)
- added the GPG key
- installed packages : samsungmfp-data, samsungmfp-driver, samsungmfp-scanner and samsungmfp-sane-fix
And that's it! The printer is automatically recognized by CUPS, printing are scanning are ok!!
Thanks again.
