I have the same notification in SyncThru:

M1-5612 Tray MP is empty

I still have no errors on printing on my Mint 12 PC. I am getting the media jam warning on my mint 11 laptop though. Don't know why that is or if it is significant.

I tried reconfiguring the printer in CUPS using the socket://hostname URL I used on my PC but it didn't make a difference.

No I've not used the MP tray, only the main paper tray that slides out from the bottom.

I'll check that SyncThru thing this evening. I'll have a look at the MP tray as well to make sure there isn't something in it.

Hi Steve,

I just retried it all and I get no errors on my Mint 12 desktop.

Here's the package listing from running "dpkg -l samsung*"

OK, I've probably got something wrong. I'll post up what I've got installed when I get home this evening.

Installing 3.00.65 stopped the media jam error for me (notifications and on the printer icon). I got the same media jam error for both 4.00.x and 3.00.90.

Try removing all currently installed samsungmfp-* packages and installing samsungmfp-driver-3.00.65.

Hi Steve/hickssl,

for the original driver install I did:

sudo apt-get install samsungmfp-driver

..which gave me the paper jam error. I'm assuming that is an unbrella package for the latest version which installs the 4.00.x driver and the related samsungmfp-data-4.00.x package.

To remove it I then did:

sudo apt-get remove samsungmfp-driver

Then to install the 3.00.65 version driver and data packages:

sudo apt-get install samsungmfp-driver-3.00.65

Those package names might be slightly wrong as I'm not at home at the moment so can't check them. You should be able to type "samsungmfp-" and press tab to get the correct names suggested, assuming you are new to command line, apt-get and all that.

I didn't change anything in CUPS, the printer definition was unaffected by driver removal and re-install.

Hope that helps.

Brad.

OK, just tried that. Installed 3.00.90 and got same result, successful print followed by "media jam" message. Installed 3.00.65, printed......no error message!

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Hi All,

I have the exact same issue as hickssl. I can print to my ML-3310ND from Mint 12 but get the paper jam error as a notification on screen. I t does also notify for successful print on completion of the job though.

Would be nice to fix that error message. Happy to provide and logs or such like if that will help.

Thanks,
Brad.
