I have no objection to dumping everything somewhere public.  My brief read of Github's terms of service implies that hosting the .debs there might be a problem because Samsung/HP have copyright on all the binary files and the official license prohibits redistribution.  But I will consider some options as I have time over the next few months and see if something makes sense.

@bchemnet thank you for your work all these years.

If you don't mind, I would like to be able to access a dump of the repository (maybe pushing it to github is ok).

Just having the DEBs in one place would be useful enough.

I've been thinking for some time about creating a docker image for the Scan to PC funcionality (which seems to break every now and thenů in fact I think it last worked for me in the Ubuntu 16.04 days). Maybe this shutdown will push me in the right direction.

Thanks again!

Printing / Re: Samsung ML2545 with Manjaro XFCE 17.1.2

Thanks for the info.
I tried those downloads as well.
Every time I enter it, it gives me an error in terminal. Same thing happens with any of the tar.gz files for this printer that I have tried. They all come back invalid or corrupted, including the one direct from HP.

sudo yaourt -U /home/eric/Downloads/UnifiedLinuxDriver-4.00.35.tar.gz
[sudo] password for eric:
unable to read /home/eric/Downloads/UnifiedLinuxDriver-4.00.35.tar.gz.
loading packages...
error: missing package metadata in /home/eric/Downloads/UnifiedLinuxDriver-4.00.35.tar.gz
error: '/home/eric/Downloads/UnifiedLinuxDriver-4.00.35.tar.gz': invalid or corrupted package

I'm throwing in the towel on this. Tired of messing with something the Manjaro program should have had no problem with whatsoever.
Going to wipe the drive and try a different Linux version. Probably switch back to an Ubuntu based one. I know the printer works with those.

You need several files other than the rasterotspl file for the driver to actually work.  That is likely the problem.

You might want to install using the version in the Arch user repository: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/samsung-unified-driver/ .  The files I provide are not packaged for use directly by Arch-based systems.

Otherwise you should probably install using the actual installer from HP instead of trying to piece it together.  There are a number of non-obvious places you can be tripped up when manually installing.

Printing / Samsung ML2545 with Manjaro XFCE 17.1.2

Fresh install of Manjaro on Toshiba Satellite laptop that is about ten years old.
intel corei5 processor
Samsung ML2545 printer via USB cable
Home computer, stand alone.
Won't print.

When choosing the Manjaro recommended printer and driver, it just kicks back error messages. One was regarding missing PPD file. Another was regarding a missing Rastertospl file. I did manage to get a sheet to print and all it said was "Internal error - Please use the proper driver. Huh? I used the driver the system suggested.

Downloaded and unpacked the driver file from HP. Found the PPD file and Rastertospl file, and copied those via sudo cp to their proper spots.
Tried printing again. Just get a generic error message on screen. "Sorry, unknown error."

So I downloaded the 4.00.35 and 1.00.36 files from your website.

Used terminal and it kicks this back to me for both files:

sudo pacman -U ~/Downloads/uld_V1.00.39_01.17.tar.gz
[sudo] password for eric:
loading packages...
error: missing package metadata in /home/eric/Downloads/uld_V1.00.39_01.17.tar.gz
error: '/home/eric/Downloads/uld_V1.00.39_01.17.tar.gz': invalid or corrupted package

I am no Linux expert by any stretch. Just basically tell me what I need to copy and paste into terminal to get this printer working. Clearly the system recognizes the printer since it kicked out the error sheet.

Going on day number 3 trying to get this printer to work. I'm lost at this point.

I have a text file that it kicked out as part of it's troubleshooting attempt. But it exceeds 2000 characters, so can't paste it here. Will try to attach.

General Discussion / Typo on the website

Just wanted to let the admin know that the website says "suld-diver2-1.00.39" someplace on https://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/ where it should say "suld-driver2-1.00.39".

Thanks to that same admin for making and maintaining this great resource.

pasqualino@Asus:~$ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/003/
insgesamt 0
crw-rw-r-- 1 root root 189, 256 Sep  3 19:16 001
crw-rw-r-- 1 root root 189, 257 Sep  3 19:16 002
crw-rw-r-- 1 root root 189, 258 Sep  3 19:16 003

001 is owned by root.

I installed 'members'. From terminal

pasqualino@Asus:~$ members lp
lp hplip pasqualino barbara

pasqualino is me. This is odd. I tried now and it worked! I didn't change anything, I restart quite often this morning, and now it just works?!?

Thanks!

try this in a terminal:
ls -l /dev/bus/usb/003/

And see who owns 001.  If it is not root/lp, you may need to add your user to another group, and/or chown that device to match a group that you are in.

If it is owned by root/lp and you are sure that you are in lp, try logging out & back in, then seeing if you can access it.

Scanning / SCX 3400 on ubuntu 18.04.1

Printer Model = SCX-3400
Linux distro = ubuntu 18.04.1
USB connected
suldr-driver 3.00.65 version 4
suld-network 2
suld ppd 1

I have upated my distro from 16.04 to 18.04 (the above driver version worked flawlessy with the old distro), and now have problems making the scanner work. SimpleScan does not have any scanner entry, VueScan doesn't work neither.

sane-find-scanner yields
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04e8 [Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.], product=0x344f [SCX-3400 Series]) at libusb:003:004
could not open USB device 0x1d6b/0x0002 at 003:001: Access denied (insufficient permissions)

I don't know about the permission problem above. My user is part of lp.

Edited /lib/udev/rules.d/60-libsane1.rules by adding
# Samsung SCX-3400
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04e8", ATTRS{idProduct}=="344f", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"

Still to no avail. Any hint?

Thanks
