Scanning / Re: Samsung CLX-6260FW scanner not found or printer doesn't work
« Last post by wired on June 25, 2018, 06:21:07 »
Now I use suld-driver2-common-1. Yesterday I found this https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2227458&p=13039406#post13039406 and did sudo vi /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf:

#Samsung CLX-6260 Series
#usb 0x04e8 0x3455
tcp LAN_PRINTER_IP

Now the Scanner is recognized.

Yesterday scanning worked, until I used 600dpi. Today scanning doesn't work even at 100dpi. Skanlite is still waiting for the beginning of the scan process... Is there a chance, that this is, because I used the reset-button on the printer yesterday?

What you posted looks okay to me, so I am not sure what the problem is.  Maybe a caching error.  Try
Code: [Select]
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/*
sudo apt-get update

If that does not work, I suggest trying the Mint forums for assistance on resolving the error.

The repository source line is probably wrong.  It looks like "Release" was put on the end of the line instead of "extra" for the section information, or possibly that "extra" is missing as the section information.

Update: Using all steps from your link I got this when I enter sudo apt-get update: The Repository 'http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr debian Release' does not have a Release file. Updating from a such repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default. Any idea what is wrong?
Thanx in advance for any help.

If you have added the repository and keys, the only thing you need to do is use Update Manager to select the version of the driver you want to install.  I have not used Update Manager, but I am sure you can find instructions on how to use it elsewhere that will allow you to choose the install files.

Thanx for your reply. Yes, those instructions are detailed. For experienced user, not for newbie as me. I was able to add your repository to Update Manager, add Authentication Keys and that's about all I accomplished. Other "steps" if any, are very "murky" for me. Thanx for your reply anyway. It looks like I have to learn compiling.

Scanning / Re: How to post for help (READ THIS FIRST!)
« Last post by bchemnet on June 23, 2018, 15:09:14 »
There appear to be a growing number of problems with recent linux distributions and use of the scanning feature of various printers.  Please be aware that

(1) I have absolutely no ability to help you with those problems beyond the solutions already posted, as I have never had a Samsung MFP printer (and no longer have a Samsung printer at all), and

(2) the current odds of receiving a response from any other forum user is extremely low, based on usage statistics.

While you are still free to post for help, I recommend that you also seek other avenues, and consider contacting HP as well.  The problems are likely related to the fact that the driver has not significantly changed (despite version increments) in several years, and so may no longer function correctly with newer linux libraries.

The instructions provided here http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/index.html are already as detailed as possible.
