Printing works. I start the configurator as root and the scanner is recognized on USB:0. When I click Properties a message pops up saying "Error during device I/O". I have atteched the strace output.

installed packages:
ii  samsungmfp-common           4.00.39-1          all                Samsung Unified Linux Driver (common files)
ii  samsungmfp-configurator-dat 4.00.39-1          all                Samsung Unified Driver Configurator (data)
ii  samsungmfp-configurator-qt4 4.00.39-1          amd64              Samsung Unified Driver Configurator (Qt4 interface)
ii  samsungmfp-data             4.00.39-1          all                Samsung Unified Linux Driver (data)
ii  samsungmfp-driver           4.00.39-1          all                Samsung Unified Linux Driver (latest driver dependency packa
ii  samsungmfp-driver-4.00.39   4.00.39-1          amd64              Samsung Unified Linux Driver (drivers)
ii  samsungmfp-libmfp           4.00.39-1          amd64              Samsung Unified Linux Driver (core library)
ii  samsungmfp-network          4.00.39-1          amd64              Samsung Unified Driver Configurator (network connectivity)
ii  samsungmfp-scanner          4.00.39-1          amd64              Samsung Unified Linux Driver (enable scanning)

When I try to install the sane fix:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
samsungmfp-scanner-sane-fix-multiarch : Depends: samsungmfp-scanner but it is not going to be installed
Depends: samsungmfp-common (= 4.00.35-2) but 4.00.39-1 is to be installed
Thank you!

The sane-fix packages have been incorporated into the main packages, so aren't necessary unless you install an older driver version.  Have you tried something other than Configurator to run the scanner (e.g., xsane or simplescan)?

Xscan does work, I'm happy with that.

Great.  I'll make a note of this as a Configurator issue; it may be related to a couple of other apparently random problems I haven't yet found a proper solution for, and am hoping another update from Samsung will occur soon to help resolve.

Hello!
I have Samsung SCX-4521F printer/scanner and I am unable to make scanner work on Linux Mint 15. I would really like if someone could find some time and help me with it.
I have added bchemnet repository and installed Samsung unified driver 4.01.17. After installation I can print with my printer, but the scanner doesn't work. It looks like my PC doesn't recognise it.
I tried installing suld-scanner-usblp-fix but with no effect. Also Samsung Configurator doesn't recognise scanner. No luck with xsane and simplescan also. (XSane -> no devices available)
scanimage --format=tiff > test.tiff did move the scanning head so I hope there is still hope in making it work in Linux again.
I have also tried installing samsung unified driver 4.00.39 from AUR in my Manjaro Linux, but with no luck.
To test hardware fault I have tried scanning in Windows Seven, and in Windows scanner works nicely so I guess it's not hardware fault.

So if there is some good soul here that would help me make my scanner work again on Linux I would greatly appreciate it.

Here is my lsusb output:

Here is sane-find-scanner output (And also sane-find-scanner -f output)
