Install suldr driver

I'd appreciate some guidance, please.  I'm running a  fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04.1 for the amd64, and trying to set up my Samsung ML-2510/XAA printer, which has been idle for about 2 years.  I had originally set it up under a previous version of ubuntu, using the factory supplied setup disks.  I never managed to achieve adequate printing resolution and it was eating gobs of toner cartridges.  So the last time my toner expired, so too did my patience.  I used  a different machine on a different desktop unit.  I don't even have the original Samsung disks any longer or the version of ubuntu I used, which I honestly don't even recall.

However, over time the suldr archive repository appeared, and seems well supported, so I decided to give it a try:  So how should I go about restoring my old printer?  Should I first reconnect the hardware and THEN try to install the latest driver, or the other way around (driver first and then hardware)?  As directed, I added the line "deb http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/ debian extra" to my /etc/apt/sources.list.  (That seems to work well.)  Only I'm observing some strange behaviors.  At first I was having great problems trying to install the gpg key, suldr.gpg.  First I had a very hard time trying  to type the text string correctly, but even when I got past that The GPG key I wound up with didn't seem to work, always returning errors.  However, finally I downloaded the entire text file - and THAT worked!  No more gpg key errors.

Yet I still get strange results:  As instructed I did "sudo apt-key add suldr.gpg," and got "OK".  I then did sudo apt-get update > ~/update.txt for a record of the packages involved.  I saw plenty of packages from http://www.bchemnet.com, but I saw absolutely no packages close to "samsungmfp-* packages corresponding to the Samsung Unified Linux Driver, at least as far as I can tell.

Do you have any idea what is going on here?  Where do I go next?

I'm not sure why the GPG key was giving you trouble, but based on what you posted you should now be set to install.  The update list you posted is just the servers and package listing files, not the packages themselves.  If you try to install something like samsungmfp-driver at this point, it should work.

As far as installing vs connecting first, it doesn't really matter.  This doesn't involve any sort of auto-detection, so either way you'll need to manually set the driver after getting everything in place.
